Biking across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito, CA
I have a bucket list and of things I want to do in each City and one of the items to check off was biking across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito.
After two days of walking the hills of San Francisco I wasn’t sure if my legs could bike the 8 miles to Sausalito, but I knew we had to try. It was the perfect fall day, the sun was out and along with that came some warmth! We rented our bikes from Bike and View Bicycle Rentals and Tours on Lombard Street where they gave us bicycle safety instructions and a map, and then we were off.
We couldn’t help stopping along the way to capture photos of the picturesque Golden Gate Bridge in all it’s glory!
As well as some other shots of the bay.
The ride wasn’t too bad with only a couple of hills, and surprisingly even the bridge has an up and down to it, but we made it across and coasted down into the lovely town of Sausalito.
We parked our bikes and locked them at the local bike parking lot.
Having worked up an appetite we started to make our way to the main street where all the restaurants and shops are located, but got distracted by a car show that was taking place in the park.
After getting our fill of vintage and modern soup’d up cars we bee-lined it to Fish n’ Chips for- fish n’ chips of course!
Bridgeway is the main road through Sausalito and is lined with shops, restaurants and boutiques which makes for a fun day of window shopping. After seeing the line out the door of Lapperts Ice Cream shop we decided we had better go see what all the fuss was about, and yum! I am glad we did! The mango sorbet was calling my name.
The afternoon was wearing on and we decided we had better catch the ferry back across the bay so as not to miss our night tour of Alcatraz that we had scheduled for that evening. The ferry ride back was relaxing and we were able to catch a beautiful sunset of the city, bridge and bay.
