The Beauty of the Grand America Hotel at Christmas
No matter what time of year, I love the Grand America Hotel but it is especially pretty at Christmas time. Whether you are staying for a weekend getaway or just stopping by for an event, the beauty and magnetism of this grand hotel will draw you in.
During the month of December the hotel has a Holiday Window Stroll where you can peruse whimsical window displays.
Be sure to pick up a Window Stroll Card; when you enter the lobby head right towards the elevators and you will come across an employee handing out cards. Put your guesses of the country from which each window display originates in the correct spots on the card.
Once completed take your card to the back center lobby and you will get a treat created by the hotel chefs.
While there, stop and view the life-size Gingerbread House featuring a two-story Hansel and Gretel inspired house, a magical wishing well, and whimsical pastry mushrooms.
The house is made of 1600 lbs. of flour, 200 qts. molasses, 2000 eggs, 500 lbs. sugar, 800 lbs. royal icing, 1100 gumballs, 300 lbs. Rice Krispies and 200 lbs. of chocolate!
Stop into Jou Jou, a children’s boutique featuring unusual and handcrafted toys, classic games and books, experiential play centers and vintage inspired candy.
Or find fresh baked pastries, cookies and macarons at La Boone Vie. I love browsing their tea sets and displays, oh la la!
That’s not all the Grand America has in store for the Christmas season; enjoy their delicious Christmas Eve or Christmas Day Brunch and Prix Fixe Dinners. Reservations required by calling 801-258-6807.
Or make it a special day with Afternoon Tea with Santa! Update: reservations go fast and some of these events are currently fully booked.
Don’t forget to take a stroll through the courtyard to see it all light up including a 30′ Christmas tree.
We hope you will make a stop into The Grand America to see the Christmas splendor for yourself.
Until Next Time……Travel On!
